Sam Pointer accepts a limited number of students on guitar, mandolin, and bass, teaching all ages and levels in his Birmingham, Alabama studio. In contrast to traditional teachers that emphasize learning solo pieces note-for-note and overlook the kind of music most of us want to play, Sam focuses on teaching music "in the real world": how to play with others and how to play by ear (in addition, of course, to the fundamentals of technique, rhythm, repertoire, etc.).
